NOTE: Page under construction!

This page contains links to the relevant pages about the aerosol emissions inventories in GEOS-Chem.

Anthropogenic emissions

Please see the following pages for more information:

  1. Sulfate aerosols: Emissions
  2. Aircraft emissions

Biomass emissions

The GFED2 inventory can be used to compute biomass burning emisisons for the following species:

  1. SO2
  2. NH3
  3. EC = elemental carbon
  4. OC = organic carbon

for the years 1997 thru 2008. The older Duncan et al seasonal and interannual biomass emissions (cf Bey et al [2001]) may also be used; however, these are considered to be of ancient vintage.

FLAMBE biomass burning emissions are not available in the standard mainline code. These have been incorporated into "research" codes such as used for the ARCTAS project.

Mineral dust emissions

The mineral dust emissions algorithm is described on a separate wiki page.

EC and OC emissions

The following emissions inventories for elemental carbon (EC) and organic carbon (OC) are used in GEOS-Chem.

  1. Bond et al [2007]: EC and OC emissions over North America
  2. Spracklen et al: Oceanic OC emissions (NOTE: to be included post GEOS-Chem v8-02-05)

Sea salt emissions

Please see this discussion about recent updates to the sea salt aerosol emissions.

Volcanic emissions

Please see our Volcanic SO2 emissions from Aerocom wiki page.
