I was born in Mexico City. I have a Master of Chemical Sciences degree from the Faculty of Chemistry of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and currently I am a candidate to Ph.D. degree of Chemical Sciences (Physical Chemistry) for the same faculty. I have a research and teaching experience of more than 20 years. My work area is in air quality modeling and emission inventories, greenhouse gas emission inventories and enviromental policy, environmental impact assessment and mitigation strategies, mainly in the transport sector .

From 1985 to 1989 I worked as researcher's assistant in the Department of Physics and Theoretical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry of the UNAM. From 1989 to 1993 I joined the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) as an air quality modeling researcher where I was in charge of the mathematical modeling of the air quality in the Metropolitan Zone of the Mexico City inside the project Global Study of the Air Quality Air in the Valley of Mexico between IMP and Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA, in the first effort of this kind in Mexico From 2000 to date I came back to academic activities at UNAM in the Center of Atmospheric Sciences. In this period I have published several scientific papers related to air quality, modeling, and GHG emission inventories. Also, I have been taken part of scientific groups of experts to address several environmental impact assessment projects, such as the new Mexico City airport, and a the hydroelectric Plant Project “La Parota” in Guerrero, Mexico,.

Furthermore, I have coordinated several GHG emission inventories courses for several entities in Mexico and for the Federal District, and training for dependencies of states of Mexico, as well as worked with the team in charge to rise to the Virtual Center of Climate Change of Mexico City. I was a leader author for the IPCC 5th Assessment Report, Working Group III, Mitigation, in the Chapter 8, Transport and I participated in the WGIII Technical Summary team.
