I am Dr. R. K. Nayak from National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC,Hyderabad) of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) with research interest on the subject physical oceanography, remote sensing, regional carbon cycle modeling. Presently, I am working on Regional  Carbon Cycle  Modeling and Simulation (CCMS) module of National Carbon Project (NCP) of ISRO-Geosphere Biosphere Program. NCP initiated during 2007 under leadership of Dr. V. K. Dadhwal with basic aim to strengthen regional databases and improve in current understanding of Carbon Cycle at regional and global scale. As a team member and principal investigator of CCMS module, we have implemnted CASA Terrestrial Ecosystem Model, Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) and GEOS-Chem at regional scale over India and its surrounding oceans. Using these model and data from in situ and satellite observations, we have made certain contributions towards achieving the aim of the project.

I have received MSc in Physics from Utkal University and PhD in Physics from Goa University under the Guidance of Dr. S. R. Shetye.
Under the project, extensive ground base observation of several parameters characterizing the regional C cycle which includes biomass, soil map, surface CO2 sensing, biosphere-atmosphere CO2 flux exchanges (through flux towers  etc) are measured since the project started in 2007. My responsibility in the project to carryout modeling study (forward/inverse) of atmospheric CO2 over India. We have made some progress towards understanding the terrestrial source and sink pattern of atmosphere CO2 by simulating NPP and NEP over India by using ground and remote sensing data in NASA-CASA model. Seasonal and inter-annual variability and their climate control over India were examined (published in Int. J. climatology and Env. Mon. Assessment).

I have received Master Degree in Physics from Utkal University in 1999 and PhD in Physics from Goa University in 2006. I have worked under the Guidance of Dr. S. R. Shetye, Director of National Institute of Oceanography on the PhD topic "Coupling between the north Indian Ocean and Monsoon: thermal cycling of the upper ocean of the Arabian Sea". I also worked on the "Modeling the tidal coastal circulation in the coastal oceans" and "Study on Meso-scale Oceanography Processes on the tropical Indian Ocean". I served as a teaching faculty at "Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS/ISRO), Dehradun" during 2005-2010. My teaching interest at IIRS includes "satellite oceanography", "Geophysical Fluid Dynamics", "Linear Algebra and Differential Calculus".
