On this page we provide information about the use of GEOS-Chem in community model intercomparison projects.

Table of intercomparisons using GEOS-Chem results

If you have used GEOS-Chem results in a model intercomparison study, we invite you to add your information to the table below.

Intercomparison Species Contributors G-C version
and resolution
Simulation Years Data Availability References Comments
POLARCAT Model Intercomparison Gas phase species, including O3, CO, NO, NO2, PAN, HNO3, NOy, H2O, C2H6, C3H8, C2H2, acetone, acetaldehyde and OH Jingqiu Mao (NOAA/GFDL)
  • v8-03-02
  • GEOS-5
  • 2°x2.5° GMAO global grid
2008 Phase-1 is done. Now phase-2 is in progress. N/A Simulations include a 1-year spin-up period (2007) and a full 12-month integration (Jan-Dec 2008) which will be used for comparison with long-term monthly-mean surface observations and satellite fields for 2008.
  • Anthropogenic and ship emissions - David Streets global emission dataset for 2008 (STREETS);
  • Biomass burning emissions: FINNv1 (Fire INventory from NCAR, version 1, from Christine Wiedinmyer) daily biomass burning emissions for 2008, based on MODIS fire counts.
AeroCom OA Organic aerosols Gabriele Curci (University of L'Aquila)
